The Official #BringDiscGolfToEaling Petition Response

FROM COUNCILLOR MAHFOUZ PORTFOLIO HOLDER FOR FINANCE AND LEISURE.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please note that the delay in responding to this petition was due to the fact that it was presented to a Full Council meeting on 18th December.

The following response has been made to the ePetition titled "Bring Disc Golf to Ealing" that you signed by Councillor Mahfouz Portfolio Holder for Finance and Leisure.

Thank you for taking the time to put together this petition, for what is an exciting sport. Whilst there is no funding for any such facility at the moment, and we have seen our budgets cut by 64% by government, I am happy to meet with petitioners and council officers to look at what options are possible to have a disc golf course in the borough, perhaps linked with one of our current golf course sites.

The council will let people in on a first come first service bases.

Can I have disc golf equipment on the stage for visual effect? "...you could clutch a basket as long as you promise not to have people in the gallery throwing frisbees at it."

Can I have more people on the stage or will I be on my own?
"You can bring a Friend for moral support, but any spectators will have to go to the public gallery- we are expecting quite a crowd."

Can I be able to show a PowerPoint presentation for visual effects? "No powerpoint- just a short speech."

Please come and show you're support.

I would like to invite people for a drink afterwards at The Grove Pub, W5 5QX, to discuss the success or failures of the evening.

Our mission is to implement a 9 or 18 hole permanent disc golf course to introduce, educate and engage the local residence and help get the community more active. We received 417 signatures from local, national and international people. Thank you to everyone who supported us and signed the petition.

What is next…?

Petition Overview:

Bring Disc Golf to Ealing!

Our mission!
Our mission is to install a permanent 9 or 18 hole disc golf course with TeePads, TeeSigns,Permanent Baskets and an Information Board into one of Ealing's public parks, for example Walpole Park and Lammas Park. We would love to get your support and excitement to help us implement this community project.

Disc Golf is one of the most inclusive and fastest growing sports in the world.
Disc Golf can be played by anyone at any level, regardless of race, gender or age.
Disc Golf is super fun and affordable for the whole family to participate.

What is Disc Golf?
Disc golf is played much like traditional golf, but instead of hitting a ball with clubs, players use a flying disc or Frisbee. The aim is to complete each hole in the fewest throws as possible.
As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive throw from the spot where the previous throw has landed.
The trees, shrubs, and terrain changes located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer.
Finally, the "putt" lands in the basket and the hole is completed.
More information can be found here

We want to help Ealing residents get more active, so if you have never heard of disc golf before, get in touch and lets throw some frisbees. Visit the website: https://www.ldgc.co.uk/contact-us or email info@ldgc.co.uk.
