What is Disc Golf?

Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc or Frisbee.

The sport was formalised in the 1970's and shares with golf the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes or, in the case of disc golf, fewest throws.

A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target which is the "hole". The hole can be one of a number of disc golf targets; the most common is called a Pole Hole an elevated metal basket.

What is Match Play?

In match play, a pair of players competes against each other in an effort to win each hole during the round. The player with the fewest throws to complete the hole, wins the hole. The player who wins the most number of holes wins the match.

What is EAMP?

The European Amateur Match Play 2019 presented by London Disc Golf Community #EAMP is a local bracket conducted over 1 day. A local winner will be chosen by the end of the day.

All players can of course use their own discs during the event.

Why Play Disc Golf?

  1. It’s probably more fun than you thought.

  2. A great way to meet new people and make friends all over the world.

  3. Low intensity exercise making it easy for almost anyone to join in.

  4. It is really easy to learn.

  5. Disc Golf is relatively inexpensive compared with many other sports.

Why Match Play?

Match play is an exciting way to compete as a disc golfer. Match play has grown in popularity and the unique format provides an opportunity for using a different strategy than what disc golfers typically employ playing traditional stroke play. The event also allows amateurs another opportunity to experience tournament disc golf at a higher level.

The EAMP – Singles will adopt the match play rules as set forth by the PDGA (which includes following all standard PDGA rules of play unless superseded by the specific match play rules):

There are two exceptions/clarifications to these rules:

  • A.01.c.
A pair of opponents plays in a group with at least one other pair, or an Official.
Exception: During this event, another pair or official is not required.

  • A.06.b.
If a pair of players is all square at the end of the round, the match is tied. The Director decides if and how ties are to be broken.
    Breaking Ties: TBC...

Format of Play

4 rounds of 9 easy beginner friendly holes. Each round of 9 holes you win, will promote you to the next level within the tournament. More than ever, every shot counts! The play that won their round will proceed to play another player that won and vice versa. Everyone will play 4 rounds or matches.

Players will be ranked based on their PDGA rating. 1 is highest and 16 is lowest. Players with no PDGA rating will be places after the lowest PDGA member.
